Other Info :
Hi, my name is Maribel (Mar-ee-bell), but I usually go by Mari (Mar-ee). I an approximately 10 years young and in good health. My mom died unexpectedly, and though her family tried to find me a new home, I ultimately ended up at Legacy Boxer Rescue. I have a 7 yr. old foster brother who is around 75 lbs. He's my friend, but it took about a month to warm up to playing with him because he is so big and barks loudly as he plays. I don't bark often, but I certainly know how to speak my mind! And I do love eating!
I have a saucy personality and a face that sometimes looks like I'm mad or serious. Really I'm quite a happy girl. I love long walks, and still have energy to chase a ball or toy when I get back home. And in true boxer fashion, I love to play keep away with the item once I have it.
Although I do not jump up on people, I am quite intense about chasing the ball/toy and could accidentally knock over a toddler. My foster family doesn't know how I would act around young children as they don't have any, but based on my friendliness to people in general, they think I'd do fine with supervised pet educated children. I am house trained and will tolerate a crate. I have very good manners on a leash and love to prance up to new people since I'm friendly. My intake notes say I'm good with cats, but I think what they meant is that I am highly interested in fast furry things and very good at chasing them! I haven't caught one yet, but my foster mom thinks I might not be very gentle if I caught one. I do know sit, stay, down, wait commands. I also know come, but sometimes i like to act like I didn't hear you. But I can sure hear a snack bag opening from the back yard!
My favorite thing is having lots of time with my family. I like to be as close to them as possible. And what girl doesn't like a cozy blanket to snore in! If you think you might like a sassy sweet older gal to spend time with, please let me know so we can meet!
