Other Info :
My family has had Roshni a little over two weeks. Don't let the face fool you! A little white on her muzzle is her beauty statement, not state of age. She is an absolute dear. She was an owner surrender and in great health. She does not act like an 8 year old. She is very playful, sweet, and gentle. She gets along fabulously with our Keeper Raylan. By far the cutest thing she does is curly-q when she runs up to greet you. Her backside is wiggling so excitedly it seems like it is trying to catch up with her head! She doesn't jump up on people but gives very sweet kisses.
She was very skittish around my hubby at first, but fine after only a week. On her intake, she has a history of being skittish around men and afraid of black hats and black coats. I don't think that she was ever abused (her behavior is stellar), but rather this might be a vision thing. I will be checking in w/Legacy about medical follow up, but was giving her a chance to settle into our routine, first. She is house trained, crate trained - we used initially while we were at work but she is left out and we have had no issues. Well, we don' t leave the trash can within exploration distance when we are not home :). She sleeps on a dog bed in our room with our pack. She does not jump up on the furniture even though she is allowed to in our house. She likes to be in the back yard (we leave the back door open and the dogs go in and out ---when the weather is nice). She does bark at noises, but I believe that this is just a new environment. She knows sit, treat, and wait. She is learning the leash when walking (we have a very busy, family friendly neighborhood with lots of kids and dogs around).
She loves to play w/toys, either with our other dog or with us. She will also entertain herself by playing with toys and doing boxer burns. The house we picked her up from were not the original dog owners. They told us that Roshni had been there a month with Dutch and the family had a HUGE friendly pyrenees and two children --- they apparently loved Roxxy nka Roshni and had a hard time giving her up. So she's is good with dogs, kids, unsure about cats, she chases rabbits in our yard, but not to the point there is any damage done....to herself, the rabbit, or the fence!
She has been a nice calming influence on our Keeper Raylan that has a few anxiety issues. All in all, she would make a wonderful family pet, preferably with dogs and/or children. There has already been several contacts voicing an interest in meeting her, so I feel like she is going to be one of the fastest adopted "seniors" in Legacy's history!
Roshni, translated from Hindu means "bright light" and that describes her perfectly!
