Hello, I'm Butterfly. I'm a beautiful dark brindle mature petite Boxer lady. I may only have the short fragile life of a butterfly left. I was rescued from the shelter with a Nerf football size soft tissue sarcoma on my front leg that was so large that the wound from removal was impossible to close. Doc says this type of cancer is destined to return. However, it has been over a year and there has been no sign of that nasty lump returning. If it does return, the best way to treat this type of cancer is to amputate my leg; however, my back legs are not strong enough for that so that is not a possibility. Being a mature dog, I'm not as strong as I once was but I can still manage to walk about a mile if we go slowly and I get a few rest breaks.
I would much rather be around people than other dogs since I don't like to play much anymore. I'm known as the fun police in my foster home because I often tell my foster brother to simmer down. I would love more than anything to meet you. You will know how happy I am because my nubby tail will be a blur and I will stand as long as you are there. I so adore meeting new people. I'm not sure I will be able to find my fur-ever home, but don't feel sorry for me. I have the best foster home and I'm making the most of the time I have left! I really enjoy sunning myself and rolling in the grass, and of course meeting new people! Please think of me fondly the next time you see a butterfly flit by.
